Mental health problems have existed since the dawn of mankind. However, it has been neglected and overlooked for most of history. People have begun to recognize the necessity for prompt attention to mental health problems and techniques to cope with them since the onset of COVID-19.
Having said that, investigations have discovered a variety of approaches to the problem. According to new research, ketamine therapy reduces depression symptoms and suicidal thoughts in a short period of time.
According to the study, the strongest evidence came from the use of ketamine to treat both severe depression and bipolar depression, with symptoms diminishing as early as one to four hours after a single dose.

It took up to two weeks for the effect to wear off.
"Our findings imply that ketamine may be useful in delivering immediate relief from depression and suicidal thoughts, potentially opening the door for more successful treatment therapies," said lead scientist of the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom.
"It's worth noting that this study looked at ketamine administration in carefully controlled clinical settings where any ketamine risks could be safely managed”
Single or several doses of ketamine resulted in moderate to considerable reductions in suicidal thoughts, according to research published in the British Journal of Psychiatry Open.
According to the study, this improvement occurred as soon as four hours after ketamine treatment and persisted on average three days and up to a week.
There is preliminary evidence to suggest that ketamine treatment may be beneficial for various mental diseases, such as anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorders, according to the study.
Furthermore, ketamine treatment reduced cravings, consumption, and withdrawal symptoms in those with substance use disorders in the short term.
The researchers used 33 systematic reviews, 29 randomized control trials, and 21 observational studies in their research.
"We're discovering that ketamine has the potential to treat conditions that are notoriously difficult to treat in clinics," says the researcher. To evaluate these benefits, we now need larger and better-designed trials.
